Dr Sharon Morris qualified as a medical doctor from Southampton University in the United Kingdom in 1997, and advanced through her speciality training in London and South Thames region to become an Ophthalmologist. With a passion in treating eyelid and orbital conditions, Dr Morris pursued further fellowship training in the area of Oculoplastics at Sussex Eye Hospital, becoming a Consultant in Emergency Eye and Adnexal/Oculoplastic Care at the internationally renowned Moorfields Eye Hospital in London.
Dr Morris and her young family moved to Australia to join her relatives where she took up a position of Staff Specialist at the Gold Coast University Hospital. Offering complete care for your eye and eyelid health Dr Morris treats a broad array of conditions including cataract, glaucoma, pterygia, eyelid tumours, droopy eyelids, watery eyes, blocked nasolacrimal ducts, oculoplastics (eyelid reconstruction), and thyroid eye disease.
Dr Morris thoroughly enjoys her work and strives to provide the best patient care on an individual basis. She is actively involved in teaching ophthalmic trainees, medical students at both Griffith and Bond Universities and in teaching nursing colleagues.
Throughout her career, Dr Morris has regularly presented at local and international meetings, authored in peer-review journals, and has written a book chapter.
Dr Morris is an elected member of ANZSOPS (Australian & New Zealand Society of Ophthalmic Plastic Surgeons) and Fellow of the Royal Australian & New Zealand College of Ophthalmology. She also holds Fellowship of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists in London (since 2009) and has been a Member of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh since 2002.
