Dr. Richmond is a clinical geneticist and paediatrician working at Leading Steps Paediatrics to provide genetic consultation and counselling for adults and children with known or suspected genetic conditions.

Chris completed his training as a general paediatrician at Mater Children’s and Gold Coast University Hospitals before undertaking a specialist fellowship in clinical genetics at the Victorian Clinical Genetics Services, Royal Children’s Hospital (Melbourne) and Genetic Health QLD. Chris has clinical and laboratory experience in molecular genetics and genomics which place him well to assist families in navigating new developments in genetic testing.
Chris is a lecturer at Griffith University, and has facilitated workshops for paediatricians and other specialists for the Melbourne Genomics Health Alliance and QLD Genomics. He has published in book chapters and medical journals in areas of rare paediatric disorders, neurodevelopmental genetics, skeletal dysplasia and heritable cardiomyopathy. Chris has presented at national and international conferences and is a member of the Human Genetics Society of Australasia.
As a father of two young children, Chris is sensitive to the impact of unexpected health issues in a family and aims to partner with families to provide care that is individualised, meaningful and family-centered.
