Dr Chris Arthur is an experienced gynaecologist and obstetrician with a strong interest in helping couples and individuals achieve their desire for a family. He manages a broad range of gynaecological conditions and provides a caring and considered approach to each patient, working with them to find informed solutions to their problems.
Dr Arthur competed his medical degree at the University of Queensland and completed his registration years working across south-east and northern Queensland. Prior to undertaking his specialist training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Dr Arthur worked in Ireland in emergency medicine and Mitchell in western Queensland as a country town doctor, providing a wealth of experience in health care and gaining exposure to a very broad array of medical conditions. He moved to the Gold Coast in 2016 to pursue further training in advanced minimally invasive gynaecology procedures (laparoscopy and hysteroscopy) and stayed on after attaining his Fellowship of RANZCOG, because of a love of the lifestyle and all that the area could offer his young family.
Dr Arthur maintains a public appointment at the Gold Coast University Hospital as a Specialist Obstetrician and Gynaecologist relishing the opportunity to teach and train those coming into and through the specialty and to provide a service to the greater Gold Coast community. He has published individually and as part of large collaborations.
Dr Arthur has completed Masters degrees in both Sports Medicine and Reproductive Medicine. The former helped gain a better understanding about how movement and exercise can have positive impacts on our health and was a natural follow on from significant engagement in sports both as a participant and coach. The latter provided greater knowledge in the causes of fertility difficulties and the management options available to help people with their pregnancy desires.
In his private practice Dr Arthur works with women and couples to help them realize their fertility goals and to help manage gynaecological concerns that are causing distress, and supports women through their pregnancy and birthing journey. He enjoys the excitement of diagnosis, the challenge of helping to conceive and the satisfaction of assisting someone with the management of a condition that is disrupting their life. He loves being a part of a team supporting parents when pregnant and still gets a kick out of every birth.
