Throughout 2017, Pindara was working on a special
project within the Maternity Unit which has now come
to completion – two new state-of-the-art and luxurious
birth suites.
he birth suites have been created with mothers and their families at the
centre of the design concept. What has been created is an exact balance
of features that incorporate all the familiar and comfortable elements of
a home like environment with the experience, security and capability of

a modern hospital setting.
Tucked away from the general hub bub of the hospital, the birth suites are intimate
hideaways within the Maternity Unit, providing comfort, care and privacy to
expectant families. “It is our goal at Pindara to provide mothers with the best and
most luxurious birthing experience possible. Patient and professional feedback were
at the centre of the design concept and this input has enabled us to create a beautiful
balance of form and function for our mothers,” said Pindara’s CEO, Trish Hogan.
The birth suites are spacious, enabling mothers to utilise the space how they
would like and without having to negotiate around various pieces of medical and
monitoring equipment. The increased space also allows our experienced maternity
staff to better care for and support the mother throughout labour as their access to
equipment does not impede the mother’s birth experience.
Mothers and their partners are able to adapt the birth suite environment to suit
their individual needs. Lighting can be controlled to create the appropriate ambience
and reduce external stimuli; a personal music selection can be played through high
quality Bluetooth speakers, and a selection of alternate therapies including salt
lamps and a selection of aromatherapy oils are also available for use by the mother
during labour. Many of Pindara’s midwives are hypnobirthing practitioners and
can lead mothers through relaxation, meditation, breathing and positive affirmation
techniques throughout labour.
