Pindara opens Medical Specialists Centre at Parkwood Village
On August 24, The Pindara Group of Hospitals
officially opened the Pindara Medical Specialists
Centre at Parkwood Village. Gold Coast Mayor
Tom Tate officially opened the precinct and
thanked Pindara for their investment in the
northern end of the Gold Coast through the
provision of excellent access to high quality
medical and imaging services for local residents.
Parkwood Village has established itself as a
well-appointed health and sports hub, and the
addition of the Pindara Medical Specialists
Centre further cements this reputation. Pindara
Group of Hospitals CEO, Trish Hogan, said she
was delighted to be able to offer expert medical
services to the local community and be part of
the continuing development of the Parkwood
Village precinct. “Pindara is privileged
to be part of the expanding infrastructure
and services available in Parkwood. This
development, will provide residents with a one-stop-
shop for outpatient specialist services in a
convenient location,” Mrs Hogan said.
Specialities currently located at the Centre
include orthopaedics, gastroenterology,
paediatrics and general surgery, with other
specialties to follow shortly.
New Clinical Trials Unit OPENS
Research is an important part of the
activity undertaken at Pindara Private
Hospital and the addition of the new Clinical
Trials Unit on site will further contribute to
the research activity already undertaken at
the facility. The unit has a newly appointed
full time clinical trials co-ordinator who will
work closely with specialists, patients and
other entities and organisations involved in
clinical trials at Pindara.
Research undertaken through clinical trials
is an essential element in the advancement
of medical knowledge and the development
of effective treatment regimens for a range
of medical issues from cancer to diabetes
and beyond.

selections of gourmet coffee, tea and niceties.
Every year on the second Thursday of
September R U OK Day is celebrated across
Australia, shining a light on suicide prevention
and mental health. Pindara celebrated the day
by encouraging staff to have a conversation
with a colleague over coffee and a cupcake
at Hudsons Café. Staff also wore a splash
of yellow in their uniforms in recognition
of the day GOLD FM joined the morning’s
activities and spoke to Dr John Gavilan-
Arraez, Psychiatrist from the Southport Private
Hospital, about the importance of recognising
the issue of suicide within our community, how
we can reduce the stigma attached to issues of
mental health and the importance of speaking
out. The health and well-being of its staff is an
important priority for Pindara, and the hospital
will continue to support activities such as R U
OK Day to encourage a collegial environment
where staff can seek help if needed.
