Trish Hogan
CEO, Pindara Group of Hospitals
FROM THE CEO
elcome to the latest edition of the
Pindara Magazine. Providing round
the clock health care for all our
W
patients across Pindara Private Hospital and
The Southport Private Hospital, means there is
always something new and exciting happening at
our facilities.
One such recent development is the introduction
of the Know My Midwife (KMM) program for
mothers expecting to deliver at Pindara. Patients
will be able to choose to participate in the Know
My Midwife Program, scheduled to begin in
September, and will enable expectant mothers
to meet and become familiar with the midwives
who will provide care during their labour and
birth. The program is based on a shared care
and continuity of care model where the mother,
obstetrician and midwife work together to ensure
new mothers are receiving the best and most
comprehensive care possible.
Continuing on the theme of maternity, we have
recently completed works on the Maternity
gardens adjoining the new birth suites and have
recently begun renovations to another of our five
birth suites. The maternity gardens are classically
designed and feature a bespoke water feature
which adds a sense of tranquillity, while the new
paths and greenery provide a welcome setting to
relax in.
We have featured some wonderful birth stories
in this edition from some well-known Pindara
mums, including 102.9 Hot Tomato’s breakfast
show host Emily Jade O’Keefe.
Also in this edition, we have covered some
difficult areas parents often ask paediatricians
about – kids and screen time and what is
appropriate. Our paediatricians share some
practical advice and the measures they put in
place in their own homes to tackle this very 21st
century issue.
We share an uplifting story about some of
our Pindara members of staff who have been
volunteering their time and knowledge to
medical missions in some of the world’s most
remote and underprivileged locations. We also
take a look behind the surgical masks of Dr’s
Jorrie and Nova Jordaan, two of Pindara’s most
highly regarded surgeons in our regular Humans
of Pindara piece.
We have recently celebrated one year since the
opening of The Southport Private Hospital.
The year has flown by, with the hospital going
from strength to strength. Always striving to
expand and extend our services we have recently
introduced a new substance use program which
will run alongside the mood and anxiety program
currently available at TSPH.
I hope you enjoy this edition of the Pindara
Magazine. Sadly, this will be my last edition
before I head off to Malaysia to take up a
position as CEO at Subang Jaya Hospital.
All the best.
Regards,
Trish Hogan
