Introducing Porsche’s new range-topping
Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid
Hitting 100km/h in a blistering 3.4 seconds and using just
2.9L/100km, the Porsche Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid is
the fastest four-door car in the world today. Featuring a
twin-turbo 4.0-litre V8 with extra hybrid assistance for a total system
output of 507 kW, this performance powerhouse blends luxurious
interior spaces and easy high-speed driving. Porsche’s Panamera Turbo
S E-Hybrid is set to change the most negative perception of hybrids. It
has desirably low numbers when it comes to efficiency – just 66g/km of
C02 emissions combined and 16.2 kwh/100km electricity consumption
combined. Likened to a muscled-up Panamera Turbo, the Panamera
Turbo S E-Hybrid is the most technologically advanced performance
sedan the world has ever seen, employing a combination of Tesla-style
tech and thumping conventional petrol-powered engine. At $460,100,
it has total torque of 850Nm with a top speed of 310km/hr. It weighs
2.3 tonnes, or the same as a Range Rover Sport Autobiography. Only
its Acid Green brake callipers and badges distinguish it from the
‘base’ Panamera Turbo. It’s all down to the powertrain, the 4.0-litre
V8 twin-turbo linked to an electric motor and battery pack to deliver
an impressive 671bhp, with the option of charging it from the mains
and coasting softly for up to 50km on electricity alone. Under the boot,
130kg of lithium-ion batteries provide up to 50km of ‘emissions-free’
electric-only range. At around 300kg more than a Panamera Turbo, the
remaining extra 170kg is the electric motor (50kg) and gear, including
the control module and auxiliary air conditioning unit.
