DR DILIP GaHANKARI TAKES PART IN
QUEEN’S BATON RELAY
One of Pindara’s leading plastic and
reconstructive surgeons was selected to
be a baton bearer in the Queen’s Baton
Relay leading up to the Gold Coast 2018
Commonwealth Games. Dr Gahankari was
selected to be part of the relay due to his
volunteer work in plastics and reconstructive
surgery in underprivileged parts of India where
locals have very limited access to specialist
medical care and who would otherwise go
untreated were it not for the effort of surgeons
and other medical staff such as Dr Gahankari.
Dr Gahankari said he was excited and privileged
to have been selected in the Queen’s Baton Relay.
“I never imaged I would be doing this to be
honest. It was wonderful to have my wife and
children there to support me, as well as the well-wishers
who showed up to cheer me on. It was
overwhelming and quite humbling,” he said.
“I feel very fortunate to be able to do the work
I do, and I believe taking part in volunteer work
is just part of my job. So to be honoured in this
way is very special.”

WIFI UPGRADE
Patients will now have better access to Wi-Fi
during their stay at Pindara Private Hospital.
A new streamlined authentication process and
increased data allowance will enable patients to
more easily access the internet so they can stay
connected to family, friends, work and the world.
Patients will be asked for their full MRN when
logging on to the Wi-Fi network and will be entitled
to connect two devices to the network for a period
of 30 days. Guests of patients will also have access
to the new Wi-Fi network by providing their name
and email address. Guests will have a smaller data
allowance than patients and may only connect one
device to the network until midnight each night.
Pindara recently opened its new Renal Unit.

created specifically for renal patients making it
easier for them to access the renal unit.
With the benefit of new space and increased
capacity, the unit is now offering places for
holiday patients requiring treatment while they
vacation on the Gold Coast. The Renal Unit is
