Trave l Day one of our descent saw us make it back to Namche, where we had previously stayed for two nights because we had made such good time. I loved Namche; it was my favourite place on the trip. It had an Irish pub and we finally got to have a beer and celebrate our achievements with the new friends we had made during the journey. It was here I also celebrated another major milestone - my 30th birthday! I had an awesome day disconnected from the world and surrounded by the mountains with that awesome feeling we had achieved what we set out to. Our trek down continued through the beautiful forest to Phakding, where we again celebrated with a few beers in the local ‘pub’. The next day was our final hike before finally flying back to Kathmandu. The trek was inspirational, beautiful, challenging, emotional and rewarding - I couldn't have asked for more. There really is something spiritual and special about this trek. I think it's the beautiful culture and the people, but maybe it's just the vibe that such a powerful place gives off. Whatever it is, I can see why some people stay for months in these mountains. pm YakS on suspension bridge to thE namche bazar VIEW FROM above the namche bazar 72 Pindara Magazine Autumn 2015
