Birth & Early Parenting Education

The Pindara Private Hospital midwives with the support of the obstetricians have developed antenatal education sessions.  They compliment the philosophy of maternity care at Pindara Hospital. 

The primary focus of empowerment through education supports autonomy; helping to prepare you to make informed choices and decisions about your care and effectively communicate those decisions to the professionals involved in your care.  The classes also aim to promote an understanding of, and trust in, the natural process of birth and parenting.

Booking in

Bookings and price enquiries for classes may be made in person or by phoning the Maternity Unit.  As classes are popular and fill quickly, you are advised to book early in your pregnancy after your first Obstetrician’s visit. Payment may be made in person at the Maternity Reception or over the phone at the time of booking your class.  The price for the antenatal classes will be given to you at time of booking. Please bring your receipt to the first class.

NB:  Refunds will only be given for medical reasons

Weekly Course (commencing between 28-32 weeks gestation)

This program is designed for women & their partners who are experiencing their first pregnancy, aiming to assist couples to make informed choices regarding birth and parenting options. 

The midwife will discuss the process of labour and birth, when to come to hospital, alternative birthing options and choices of pain relief.  Physical and emotional changes commonly experienced following birth, including parenting skills will also be explored.  Important practical information will also be covered to get your breastfeeding off to a great start.

Weekly classes held most week nights 7 – 9pm

Saturday Course

This course is offered to couples who are unable to attend the weekly series, or those interested in completing the course in a shorter time.
Classes held over two consecutive Saturdays 12md  – 6pm

Afternoon tea is included in the cost of the course.
